JEFF WINGER: We're gonna fly to school each morning.
We're gonna smile the entire time.

BRITTA: We're gonna be more happy.
         We're gonna finally be fine.

ABED: We're gonna get more calm and normal.

TROY: We're gonna fix our state of mind.

ANNIE: We're gonna be less crazy.
	We're gonna finally be fine.

SHIRLEY:	We're gonna stand, holding hands, in a brand new land,
		far away from the borderline.

DEAN PELTON: We're gonna seem like a mainstream dream

SENOR CHANG: and be appealing to all mankind.

ALL:	We're gonna have more fun and be less weird
than the first two years combined.

	We're gonna live forever.

JEFF AND ANNIE: And we're gonna sleep together.

ALL: We're gonna finally
        be sunny and shiny.
        We're gonna finally be fine!

I didn't know Community came from the co-creator of that legendary never-picked-up pilot, "Heat Vision and Jack." That helps explain why Community had so many built-in parodies of other shows. (I want to believe the "flying Jeff" in this number was a nod to the Bugaloos.)

But there's a poignant story about where he got the idea for the show. He'd attended Glendale Community College -- not Greendale Community College -- to spend time with his girlfriend. And yes, he took a Spanish class -- and, joined a study group. "I was in this group with these knuckleheads and I started really liking them," he told one interviewer, "even though they had nothing to do with the film industry and I had nothing to gain from them and nothing to offer them."

Years later, the third season of his TV show would launch with a spectacular/cheesy all-cast musical number....
